Canon 5D Mark IV - ISO 100 - 70mm - f/7.1 - 1/2 sec

I hate to admit, but I have enjoyed a lot of instant ramen in my life. Breakfast, lunch, dinner; there is always a time and place for one of my favorite noodle soups. While most instant noodles may get a bad rap, Sapporo Ichiban has mastered the art of cheap and delicious instant ramen gratification! Their Miso Ramen with Original Spice Pack is the flavor I go to again and again, and it is what is pictured in this post. The bowl of noodles needs very little “doctor-ing up”. However, freshly sliced green onions, blanched julienne carrots, and a soft boiled egg never hurt anyone (the garnishes looked good for the pictures too!).

The food photography tip of the day?! I used a very shallow ramekin bowl, rather than the traditional ramen bowl. Also, using little broth and lots of noodles gave the dish a more elevated look, not to mention a place for the onions, carrots, and egg half to rest on. Another note to add… do you see the small pitcher of soy sauce in the background? Yeah, not soy sauce at all, just some room temperature coffee!

The napkin linen I used was from Loyale, and the backdrop I used was from this amazing set of lightweight waterproof backdrops I use for almost every photo shoot.

For gear: My Canon 5D Mark IV with a 24-70mm lens, the tripod I always use is the Vanguard Alta Pro, and since I use natural lighting, my only other necessity was a light diffuser.
