A satisfying meal couldn’t get any easier than this!
From the food photographer’s perspective, working with a good looking product that takes little to no effort to style (such as this tomato soup) makes my job a lot easier! When photographing most foods, a room temperature product is almost always much easier to work with… with the exception of ice cream! For this photo shoot, all I had to do was pop open the carton of red pepper & tomato soup by Pacific Foods and pour it into these mini cast iron dutch ovens. Perfect for shooting at room temp! This gave me a lot more time to focus on the crusty, gooey grilled cheese sandwich. Sourdough, sharp cheddar, and a drizzle of olive oil (this one is my favorite) in a cast iron skillet is the way to go. Low and slow until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted. However, before shooting I allowed the grilled cheese to come closer to room temp! Much easier to slice and photograph. This photo shoot took me no more than 30 minutes to set up, cook, style, and shoot. It made a good lunch on a Friday afternoon for my fiance as well! I plated the sandwich on a Zungleboo Dinner Plate in the color moon white. I think their products are one of the best to photograph food on because the plates are matte, not too big or too small, and have a very shallow rim. I use them for almost everything! Not to mention, these plates are lightweight and very hard to break.
For this photo shoot I used my Canon 5D Mark IV with the EF 24-70mm F/2.8L II USM Standard Zoom Lens and my Vanguard Alta Pro Tripod to get the perfect flat-lay shot.
